Education program

Information

Our Ofsted approved educational programme has been developed and continues to be supported by an experienced education specialist. The programme covers the OFSTED six key areas of learning which are designed to ensure all aspects of a child's development needs are covered:

Personal, Social and Emotional

Good personal and social skills are important to get the best out of life. We are here to help you nurture you child to be a happy, well-behaved, good mannered individual with the ability to share and play positively with other children.

Physical

Children develop physically at their own pace. Great Expectations will support you and your child with their development, be it learning to walk and dress, to developing their gross motor skills such as riding a bike and fine motor skills such as threading buttons, which helps with the co-ordination skills needed to learn to write. This is done through providing a healthy balanced diet, activities that encourage co-ordination development and exercise through games and free play.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

It's a very big world out there and here at Great Expectations we hope to provide your child with a wealth of useful knowledge about life. Through our structured educational programme, with set monthly themes we will enlighten your child to the wonders of the world. This is backed up with the very careful planning of our nursery space which has a designated book corner, construction area, free play home corner and designated children's computer.

Communication, Language & Literacy

Supporting your child to be able to communicate effectively starts with them learning to talk, developing through to being able to enjoy and discuss stories, to knowing their alphabet and recognising their name. We hope to inspire the children to love stories and when old enough we will take them to choose books at the local library.

Mathematics

Numbers relate to all aspects of our lives and therefore mathematics is embedded naturally into everyday nursery life. Be it learning about how old we are, the number of days in the week, being able to count and identify numbers, to telling the time. It will not be long before your little one is counting the number of buttons on their shirts to the number of stairs in the nursery.

Creativity

The really fun part of the Ofsted six key areas where your child is encouraged to show and develop their creative side. We fuel their imagination through activities such as dressing up and role play, finger painting, making models and drawing pictures. Be prepared to receive these creative works of art when you collect your child at the end of the day.
